Honeymoon Continued...

So as promised here is continued reflection on our honeymoon...

When we finally got to Park City, Utah and arrived at the resort our mouths dropped. The first thing we saw was the gondola that runs up through the resort, then we were taken a back by the brilliance that was the resort itself. It looked like a cozy cabin hideaway at the base of a ski resort. We got to our rooms and checked out our large kitchen (it was bigger than our kitchen back home in Corvallis, wish I could of taken it home with me), our king size bed with feather down pillows and comforter and a huge jacuzzi, the perfect setting to start a romantic week together. That night we decided to go discover down town. It was a winter wonderland, nice restaurants and a large selection of shopping boutiques all lit with Christmas lights. Its one of those moments in life that you wish you could take a snap shot so you'll never forget the excitement of your first adventure together. The feeling of walking with my sweetheart, and knowing life doesn't get much better than this.
The next morning we geared up for a full day of skiing and snowboarding. We woke up bright and early, I would have liked to sleep in, but Rob wasn't going to have any of that when we could be up on the slopes. It was nice that our room was right on the mountain because we could just came home for lunch and could be on the mountain without any travel. When we went back out after lunch I decided I'd muster up the courage to go down an ungroomed run, thinking well how hard can it really be. The answer to that is REALLY HARD!! In 24inches of powder REALLY REALLY HARD!!! I first started down the mountain, lost my balance and sunk head first into the snow. I tried to push myself up and my hands just sunk in the powder causing my face to push further into the snow. I was yelling help and other four letter words, since my face was freezing, and all I could hear was Rob laughing, on the verge of tears laughing. Must of been a pretty funny sight, me completely stuck. After about 10 minutes I was free! Let me tell you it was brutal getting out of that stuff. Then Rob, being the know it all that he can sometimes be, told me to just bomb it down the hill that way I would cover more ground before I fell again. Lets just say it took us forever to get down just that one run (me going about fifteen yards before falling and getting stuck) and I don't think we've ever laughed so hard!
The next day we spent in Salt Lake City walking around temple square. What a neat feeling I had as I walked around such a special place with the most important person in my life. We also got to spend a day skiing at a different mountain in Park City. We spent one day at Olympic park, touring the museum of the 2002 Winter Olympics and seeing where some of the future Olympians still train. Of course we spent a day shopping which was a new thing for Rob, but I told him that being married to me unfortunately required compromises, and he didn't have to participate if he didn't want to. He did and secretly I think he had a blast. Some of our free time was also spent playing pool in the game room and swimming in our heated out door pool, and outdoor jacuzzi. All and all its a trip I'll never forget or take for granted. You never know how fast life is going to pass by, and I'm not sure if we'll get to take another trip just the two of us for while, especially at this age. We are super grateful to have had this experience, Thanks again Grandpa for helping us make lasting memories we'll never forget!
Some fun pictures while skiing, you can see a nice view of park city in the background.

I had to add this picture as a side note cause this is where we spent our first night together, and will always be special to me, A midsummer's Dream Bed and Breakfast, in Ashland, OR.

Americas Past Time

In baseball it is a big media event when it comes to revealing the new jerseys for the 2010 season. This year Rob got to be a part of this neat tradition, and I know that I am bias because he is my husband but I thinks he's the best looking of the bunch. Another new addition to our lives has been the NCAA finally letting baseball teams practice all together (pitchers, infielders, and outfielders). The beginning of February has marked the start of 4 hour practices (pretty much scrimmaging everyday)! Which as you can only imagine has put a bit of stress on our marriage. Let me give you a run down of my hubby's day, weights at 6:30 three times a week, class usually from 8am to around 12pm, practice at 12:30, over at 4:30, maybe a quick dinner, then back to study until his homework is finished. Now you can only imagine how his poor wife is feeling right about now. Its definitely hard to go through the chaos that is baseball season, but I'm committed to being the most supportive wife I can be, so his final season will hopefully rank high as one of the best!

Just one week until the first game...in Hawaii mind you...I'm completely jealous!!!

Switching Roles

Pictures we took when we first moved into our apartment, looks a little different now but its nice to see where we came from.

Last week I had my family studies class, which I love. Its really been giving me an insight to what I have to look forward to, and hopefully ways to make my marriage and family the best it can be. Rob and I enjoy to have discussions when I get home from class about the material Ive just gone over. Last Wednesday, our class was on the transition into marriage and one of the subtopics was dealing with the distribution of chores. Rob and I had a lively discussion about how we as a couple deal with the house hold chores, and of course a playful argument about who does more. Rob suggested that in order to appreciate what the other does we should switch roles. So that is what we have done...

Ashley's new roles:
1. Take out the trash
2. Wash the dishes after dinner
3. Clean up little things around the house

Robs new roles:
1. Laundry (yeah!!)
2. Grocery shopping and putting the groceries away
3. Making dinner

I'm probably forgetting some but these are the big ones.
